AAPL Privacy: Apple Can’t Unlock iOS 8 Devices … Even for Police

Apple (AAPL) has released a new website detailing its security features.

aapl-apple-securityThe website notes that with iOS 8, Apple is unable to access files without the user’s passcode. This means that the tech company can’t obtain information from a device even if it’s ordered to by police.

Apple also talks about a new web browser called DuckDuckGo on the website. DuckDuckGo is available to devices running iOS 8 or OS X Yosemite. The web browser allows users to search online without being tracked. It can also be set as the default browser.

A message from Apple CEO Time Cook that is featured on the website talks about the company’s privacy policies.

“Finally, I want to be absolutely clear that we have never worked with any government agency from any country to create a backdoor in any of our products or services. We have also never allowed access to our servers. And we never will.”

The website focused on detailing Apple’s security measure comes after a group of hackers hacked nude photos from the iCloud accounts of over 100 celebrities‘. One model that claims she tried to warn the company about its security is planning to sue over the leaks. However, the company denies that its security was at fault.

AAPL shares were up slightly as of Thursday afternoon.
