The closing of Google Orkut was announced back in June. This gave users some extra time with the service and also allowed the to export their profile data via Google Takeout. Many who visited the website today were sent to a support page detailing its closing, reports The Next Web.

Orkut users still have a few options for interacting with the service, but they are limited. This includes being able to view past conversations in the website’s data archive, delete posts from the archives, report things found in the archives and save photos and other things from the service.

While Orkut was popular in Brazil, it couldn’t stand up to Google+, the company’s newer social media service, The Next Web notes.
