Some believe that the upcoming blood moon has a biblical meaning attached to it.
The Blood Moon Prophecy is a belief that the tetrad signifies that the end of times is approaching us. The term “tetrad” refers to four consecutive total lunar eclipses with six full moons in between.
The current tetrad began with a total lunar eclipse and blood moon last April. Christian pastors John Hagee and Mark Blitz have popularized the idea of the blood moons signifying the impending apocalypse.
The idea was borne out of a verse from the Book of Joel: “the sun will turn into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and terrible day of the Lord comes.”
