FB Analysis: Facebook ‘Likes’ Reveal Political Sides’ Favorite Things

Facebook (FB) has looked through its users’ “Likes” and political alignment to find what they enjoy.

The data collection by Facebook bases a user’s political alignment of Republican or Democrat on political pages that they like. It then looked over what these users Like to determine the difference in opinion from the two sides.

When it comes to music, Democrats more often Like Michael Jackson, The Beatles and Bob Marley. Republicans more often Like George Strait, Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert.

When it came to landmarks in the United States, the two sides were much closer and shared a lot of the same Likes. One landmark that is more often Liked by Democrats is the Empire State Building.

Republicans and Democrats were also much closer on authors that they like. Standouts for Democrats include Neil deGrasse Tyson and Maya Angelou. Republicans have more of an affinity for Dr. Ben Carson than Democrats.

Books that Democrats Like more often than Republicans include The Hobbit, The Color Purple and The Great Gatsby. Republicans leaned toward Heaven Is for Real, Atlas Shrugged and Jesus Calling.

TV shows that Republicans Like more often than Democrats are Duck Dynasty , The Five and The Kelly File. Democrats more often Like The Daily Show, The Colbert Report and The Rachel Maddow Show.
