UPS to Raise Shipping Rates by Year End

UPS (UPS) is raising its shipping rates for 2015. UPS

The costs of the company’s shipping services will increase by an average of 4.9%. The UPS price hike will go into effect on Dec. 29.

The price increase affects shipping rates for ground, air, international, UPS Freight, and UPS air freight rates. Packages between the US, Canada and Puerto Rico will be affected.

The move comes over a month after UPS announced plans to hire 95,000 seasonal workers to gear up for the holidays. The company has already begun its holiday hirings.

UPS stock is up 2.6% Tuesday afternoon.
