Xbox One owners looking to use the HBO Go app will still have to have HBO on their cable packages. The service includes HBO’s entire library of content, such as Game of Thrones, and can be controlled via voice commands with Kinect, reports Cnet.

HBO Go has been available for Microsoft’s Xbox 360 for several months now and earlier this year it was promised that it would show up on Xbox One by the end of the year. A standalone version of HBO that won’t require a cable subscription will be released, but it’s unknown when or if it will come to Xbox One, Cnet notes.

Engadget tested out activating the HBO Go app on Xbox One. The publication ran into a problem because the HBO website doesn’t list the Xbox One as one of the supported devices for it. However, using the Xbox 360 code worked on the Xbox One.
