Here are a few things to know about the Apple Photos app, as listed by USA Today.

  • The Apple Photos app will be replacing iPhoto as the new way to store and edit photos.
  • The app will sync all photos up to iCloud and make them available on all of a user’s Apple devices.
  • Uploaded photos will not only include the originals, but also any edited versions of a photo.
  • The new app will start coming installed on Macs this spring.
  • Users must have Yosemite, which is free from the company, to take part in the open beta.
  • Users must also have iOS 8, which can be downloaded on iPhone 4s or later devices, to be part of the open beta.

This isn’t the first look that people have gotten of the new Apple Photos app. The company released a beta build of the app to developers back in early February. It’s possible that Apple will talk more about the new app at its event scheduled for March 9, reports TechCrunch.
