The new Facebook Away Message feature draws inspiration from old chat message services. This feature allows users to set a message for other users that try to contact them while they are offline and lasts for 12 hours, The Next Web notes.

Users can view a person’s Away Message on Facebook by checking the sidebar on the social media platforms main mobile app. The feature is currently being tested in Taiwan and Australia, reports The Next Web.

“People were having a difficult time staying in touch with their friends and seeing what they’re doing on a daily basis,” Sue Young, a product manager at Facebook, told The Verge. “Now when I visit the sidebar, I can get an instant pulse of what all my friends are doing.”
