Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) will be making major changes to its remote for its next-generation Apple TV.

The next version of the Apple TV is expected to be announced this summer. One of the company’s employees claims that the new set-top box will have a redesigned remote that is thicker and includes a touch pad. The current remote is very thin and only has three buttons, reports The New York Times.

The next-generation Apple TV remote will allow users to scroll via its touch pad. It will also be losing a button with the addition of the touch pad, bringing the total amount of buttons on the device to two. This will be the first time the remote has seen a major redesign since it was introduced back in 2007, NYT notes.

It’s believed that the new Apple TV remote will replace the circular button on the current versions with the new touch pad. This would have the device acting similar to the Apple Remote app for iPhone and Apple Watch, reports MacRumors.
