Samsung (SSNLF) is working on a “transparent truck” that it believes will make travel safer.
Samsung’s transparent truck contains a camera on front of it that projects a video feed to screens placed on the back of the truck. This video allows drivers behind the truck to see the road ahead of it. The new truck technology has been tested in Argentina, which is home to a high number of road accidents.
Samsung is no longer using the truck that took part in tests. It claims that the camera and monitors on the truck worked well enough that they could be used at night as well.
Samsung’s transparent truck could make it easier for drivers looking to pass it on a two-lane road to do so. While the truck is still in its early prototype phase, the company is currently in talks with governments and NGOs over following proper protocols for the tech.
