Lawsuit: Apple (AAPL) may be facing a class action lawsuit over screens on its 2013 Retina MacBooks, reports 9to5Mac. A group that claims to be made up of 2,500 Retina MacBook owners is unhappy with their screens due to the reflective coating peeling off. The owners with an issue are calling the problem staingate and want the tech company to solve it. Some owners claim that Apple has repaired the issue for free even out of warranty. Others complain that the tech company refuses to do anything because it’s just a “cosmetic” issue.
Update: A small, additional update for Apple’s El Capitan beta has been released to fix one certain problem, AppleInsider notes. The issue at hand was causing some apps that were 32-bit to crash when being used wit the new operating system. The bug was present in both the public version of the beta and the third version of the beta released for developers. The new update can be downloaded from the Mac App Store via the Update tab. It’s advisable to make a backup of data before moving on to the new betas.
iPod: A new rumor claims that Apple will announce an update to the iPod line this month, reports MacRumors. According to this rumor, the official announcement from the tech company will comes out on July 14, which is the coming Tuesday. It’s believed that AAPL will announce a new iPod touch, iPod nano and iPod shuffle. The rumor claims that the iPod nano and iPod shuffle will only see minor updates, such as new colors. However, the iPod touch is expected to get a major update in the form of a 64-bit processor. New iPod colors were accidentally leaked in an iTunes update earlier this month.
