Facebook (FB) has announced that it’s making its “Donate Now” button available to charities.

FB Facebook stockFacebook news concerning the new Donate Now button was made via its official Facebook for Business page. The social media company said that charities can use the button on their official pages and through linked ads. This allows charities to select which websites their Donate buttons will appear on.

This piece of Facebook news also shows that the Donate Now button will appear on charities pages when being viewed from its mobile apps. The Donate button doesn’t actually allow for users to give money to charities via Facebook. Rather, it acts as a link that will redirect users to the selected charity’s official website.

When users click on one of the Donate Now buttons that can now be found on charities’ Facebook pages, they are met with a screen that alerts them to the fact that the social media company doesn’t endorse the charity. Organizations should pay attention to this Facebook news as they’ll need to have their page’s category set to “Non-Profit Organization” to use the Donate button.
