Twitter Drone Selfies May Be on the Way

Twitter (TWTR) has been granted a patent that could lead to drone selfies.

twitter-drone-selfies-twtrThe new patent filed by Twitter describes unmanned aerial vehicle that could take photos and post them to the social media website. When asked about the patented device, a TWTR spokesperson responded by saying “drone selfies,” reports NBC News.

The patent for the Twitter drone also describe how it could be controlled in different ways. It talks about the drone being moved in different directions depending on how many Likes, Retweets and Replies the post got. However, the drone has to exist before anyone can be sure that it will work this way, The Verge notes.

It’s possible that the new Twitter device could be used for more than just taking drone selfies. The social media company may allow it to post live video on users’ profiles via Periscope, reports NBC News.

TWTR shares were up 1% as of Tuesday morning.
