Petition: A new petition wants the White House to step in between Apple and the FBI, 9to5Mac. The petition is asking the government to stop efforts to have device makers create backdoors into their own operating systems. The new petition was just started today and currently has over 500 signatures. It will need to get 99,000 more if it wants to reach its goal of 100,000 signatures within a month’s time. AAPL CEO Tim Cook is standing against an order from a U.S. Federal Judge to crack an iPhone’s security for the FBI.

A9: A new rumor claims that Apple’s upcoming 4-inch iPhone will pack an A9 processor, reports AppleInsider. If this rumor turns out to be true, it would mean that the device, possibily being called the iPhone 5se, would have the same processor as the one found in the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus. This would put its performance above the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus. This rumor also claims that the iPad Air 3 will come equipped with an A9X processor, which is also used in the iPad Pro.
