Car Hacking

The number of vehicle breaches done by hackers continues to increase due to vulnerabilities in cars that makes it possible for people with pernicious intentions to go forward with car hacking attacks.

“The FBI and NHTSA are warning the general public and manufacturers—of vehicles, vehicle components, and aftermarket devices—to maintain awareness of potential issues and cyber-security threats related to connected vehicle technologies in modern vehicles,” the agencies said.

Vehicles that are especially vulnerable to these attacks are “smart” cars, which have certain features that allow hackers to infiltrate their computer systems. Researchers have issued these warnings before.

There are no recorded incidents of hackers taking control of a moving vehicle, but it could still happen.
