Black Friday 2016: Hhgregg, Inc. (HGG) Won’t Open on Thanksgiving Day

Hhgregg, Inc.(NYSE:HGG) won’t be opening its doors to customers on Thanksgiving Day.

Hhgregg, Thanksgiving, HGGHhgregg says that it will be closing all of its 220 physical retail locations for the holiday. The electronics retailer says that it has noticed the trend of opening earlier for Black Friday sales. However, it is “drawing a line in the sand” and remaining closed on Nov. 24, 2016.

Hhgregg says that remaining closed for Thanksgiving will give customers more time to spend with their families. It will also allow HGG employees a days to relax and spend time with loved ones before taking on the challenge that is Black Friday.

Hhgregg’s full schedule for the Thanksgiving holiday is as follows:

  • Wednesday –9:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
  • Thanksgiving — Physical retail locations will be closed, but customers can still shop at the chain’s website.
  • Black Friday — 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
  • Saturday — 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
  • Sunday — 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.

“We stand behind our core values and beliefs of being a family-first company,” Bob Riesbeck, President and CEO of Hhgregg, said in a statement. “It’s important to us that our associates are able to be home with their families on Thanksgiving, and we are encouraging our customers to do the same – knowing great deals will be available online, on Black Friday and through the weekend.”

HGG stock was up 2% as of Tuesday morning.
