Nintendo Co., Ltd (ADR) (OTCMKTS:NTDOY) has finally shown off its new console and it is called the “Nintendo Switch.”
The Nintendo Switch is a two-part system. The main part is the tablet that powers the device. However, it also has a dock that the tablet can be plugged into. This allows the display from the tablet to be shown on a connected TV screen.
The controller for the Nintendo Switch in the trailer is also interesting. The two sides slide out of it and can be attached to the tablet so owners can easily take it with them. This controller can also be used while unattached, which lets users sit in a more relaxed position while gaming. Two players can also use one half of the controller each for multiplayer games. There trailer also shows what will likely be the “Pro” version of the controller that doesn’t come apart.
Another interesting bit to note in the trailer is that the Nintendo Switch will use cartridges, which means discs likely aren’t supported. It also appears to feature local multiplayer. As seen when a group of people are playing a game together on two Switch consoles after a basketball game.
The trailer for the Nintendo Switch also showed off several games as well. The company’s own The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild makes an appearance. What could be new Splatoon and Mario Kart games show up, as well a a new 3D Mario game. The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim and an unnamed NBA game are also seen in the trailer.
The Nintendo Switch is currently set to come out in March 2017.
