Apple Inc. Rumors and AAPL Stock News – Apple TV Expansion, iPad OS Upgrade and More

Here’s the latest Apple Inc. rumors and news on AAPL stock as of Wednesday, June 30. We’ll cover everything from the Verizon iPhone plans to a cheap iPad vendor in Heathrow Airport to Hulu apps for Apple Inc. gadgets:

Verizon Comes to iPhone in January 2011: Rumors about when other cellphone carriers would be allowed to support AAPL’s iPhone have been bouncing around since the original announcement of AT&T‘s (ATT) exclusivity back when the smartphone was revealed in 2007. Many analysts thought that the iPhone 4’s biggest new feature wouldn’t be tech like the new FaceTime feature but that carriers like Sprint (S), Deustche TeleKom‘s (DT), and most importantly, Verizon (VZ) would finally be allowed to support the iPhone now that the AT&T contract’s 2010 end-date had come. If a rumor reported by Business Week is accurate, Verizon will finally get its piece of iPhone pie next year. According to “two people familiar with the plans,” Verizon will offer iPhones in January, bringing in an estimated 3 to 12 million new iPhone users.

iPad Cheapest at UK Airport: If you happen to be taking a summer vacation in England this summer and you’re planning on purchasing an iPad for the trip, it would be wise to wait until you land at Heathrow airport to pick it up. Dixons Travel retail shops at Heathrow are selling AAPL’s tablet tax-free, with discounts from £12.50 on £429 16gb models to £20.36 on £699 64gb models. Given the current  strength of the dollar, this means US citizens can pick up an iPad at a serious discount, even over certain online retailers. You will, however, have to pick up a new charging cord upon returning to the States.

Hulu Releases iPad and iPhone Application: Hulu, the internet television joint venture run by General Electric (GE), News Corps (NWS), and Disney (DIS), has finally unveiled its long-rumored pay service, Hulu Plus, this week. The $10-per-month service is now available as an application on AAPL’s iOS supported devices including the iPhone and iPad, giving subscribing users access to full runs of shows like Law & Order, The X-Files, and Dangerous Housewives. The app is free to download. The free, ad-supported service available at Hulu.com will continue, but cannot be accessed by iPad users thanks to Apple’s products’ incompatibility with Flash.
