Here are your Apple rumors and news items for Monday:

Genius Bar Venture Set to Open: The blog AppleInsider reported on Monday that Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) will unveil Joint Venture, a support program for business clients, on Wednesday. The program will be similar to the Genius Bar service centers available to consumers at Apple retail outlets, with significant differences. Joint Venture subscriber, who will pay approximately $500 a year for the service covering “up to 5 systems” with additional systems costing $99, will receive remote support over the phone and can schedule appointments for Apple employees to offer help on-site.

NBC Shows Remain on iTunes: Following Comcast’s (NASDAQ:CMCSA) acquisition of the NBC television network, the company was expected to pull content from a number of non-Comcast services, including Apple’s iTunes video store. The Associated Press reported Monday that iTunes users will still be able to buy NBC shows, thanks to conditions set by government regulators as part of the terms approving Comcast’s acquisition of the network. Under those conditions, Comcast is required to license NBC content to not just Apple’s iTunes but other competing services like Netflix (NASDAQ:NFLX). Additionally, Comcast cannot limit bandwidth to its broadband subscribers looking to access video via the Web rather than through Comcast’s cable and Fancast service. Although iTunes will still have NBC programming, there are still no plans for NBC to participate in Apple’s 99-cent television episode rental program.

Here Come the Hackers: One of the chief selling points for Apple computers has been their strong security and resistance to computer viruses. The reason Macs were so secure, however, was that there weren’t enough of them in consumer hands to merit the attention of hackers and Web criminals. The proliferation of Macs is opening users up to new dangers, according to security research group Sophos. The group said Monday that a “Remote Access Trojan” that targets Apple’s OS X operating system software has appeared, allowing hackers to remotely control a user’s Mac with options to reboot or shut down the system, direct users to specific websites, or “phish” for passwords.

At the time of publication, Anthony John Agnello did not own a position in any of the stocks named here.
