Wal-Mart Shareholders Meeting 2011 630 bannerWalmart (WMT) may face a lawsuit stemming from Black Friday protest that took place in 2012.

The National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) said that it may sue Walmart for alleged claims of illegally threatening workers prior to Black Friday protest that took place last year. Walmart fired 117 workers during  the incident last year and claimed that it was a “procedural step.” If the case happens and Walmart loses, it could result in workers being reinstated with the company or being given back pay, reports the New York Post.

“We will pursue our options to defend the company because we believe our actions were legal and justified,” a spokeswoman told the New York Post.

The Black Friday protest that took place in 2012 spanned 100 cities. A Walmart located in Paramount, Calif., saw 600 protesters show up to support Walmart employees. More protest are expected to happen during Black Friday 2013, reports the Los Angeles Times.
