Shoppers looking for a big discount on Apple’s (AAPL) current flagship iPhone 5s can head to Walmart (WMT).
The nation’s largest retailer has slashed the price of the 16GB iPhone 5s to $99 — with a two-year contract, of course. WMT has also dropped the price of the iPhone 5c to just $29 on-contract. WMT says the discounts represent a “permanent price change” for the iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c, ABC News notes.
Previously the iPhone 5s was priced at $149 on-contract at WMT, while the iPhone 5c sold for $49 on-contract.
The WMT iPhone price drops come as iPhone fans get ready for the launch of Apple’s next-generation iPhone 6, which is expected to be released in September. Sales of iPhones typically slow in the months before the debut of new models.
Shares of WMT stock was flat in Friday midday trading, while AAPL stock gained modestly.
