Apple (AAPL) has won an antitrust lawsuit concerning iPods from 2006 to 2009.
An eight-member jury ruled on Tuesday that Apple hadn’t violated antitrust laws with updates made to its iPods from 2006 to 2009. The jury took three hours to reach its decision and the tech company was happy with the verdict, reports The New York Times.
The lawyers behind the Apple iPod lawsuit claimed that the company had used updates to keep music from competitors from being played on the devices. While its true that iPods from 2006 to 2009 couldn’t play music outside of what was bought from iTunes, updates made during this time were done so to increase user experience,
NYT notes.
The iPod trial had started two weeks ago. It was the result of a complaint filed in 2005 by two customers who claimed they couldn’t move their iTunes libraries to other devices, reports The Verge.
AAPL shares were up slightly as of Wednesday afternoon.
