Reuters contacted 23 major hospitals to check in on the status of Apple HealthKit. It discovered that 14 of them are at least starting up pilot programs to use the service. Eight of the hospitals using HealthKit are on the list of best hospitals in the United States, reports Reuters.

Healthcare is a $3 trillion market in the U.S. and Apple HealthKit has a lot of room to grow in it. The tech company has said that there are currently more than 600 developers working to integrate the technology into their apps. One research group predicts that 70% of healthcare institutions across the world will invest in tracking technology similar to Apple’s by 2018, Reuters notes.

One problem Apple HealthKit may face is concerns over security. Storing the health information of users could put them at risk if the company was hacked. Anthem (NYSE:

ANTM) has recently had trouble with this following a hack that included as many as 80 million peoples’ health information, reports Cnet.

AAPL shares were up slightly as of Thursday afternoon.
