More broadly, the Dow Jones Industrial Average increased 1.0%, the Nasdaq rose 0.8% and the S&P 500 was up 1.0%.

Some of the biggest gainers among energy stocks include:

• Peabody Energy Corp (BTU): BTU stock is up 5.4% today.

• Precision Drilling Corp (PDS): PDS stock is up 5.5% today.

• Frank’s International N.V. (FI): FI stock is up 5.0% today.

• Martin Midstream Partners L.P. (MMLP): MMLP stock is up 5.1% today.

• Compagnie Generale De Gephysqu (CGG): CGG stock is up 5.0% today and up 20.9% in the last month.

• Core Laboratories N.V. (CLB): CLB stock is up 4.8% today.

• Seadrill Limited (SDRL): SDRL stock is up 4.9% today.

• Continental Resources (CLR): CLR stock is up 4.6% today.

• Canadian Natural Resources (CNQ): CNQ stock is up 4.4% today.

• Rowan Companies (RDC): RDC stock is up 4.0% today.

Some of the biggest losers among energy stocks include:

• Pdc Energy Inc (PDCE): PDCE stock is down 1.7% today.

• Alliance Holdings Gp L.P. (AHGP): AHGP stock is down 1.0%, marking the third consecutive day the stock has decreased.

• Cobalt International Energy (CIE): CIE stock is down 0.8% today.

• Newfield Exploration Company (NFX): NFX stock is down 0.4% today.

• Encana Corp (ECA): ECA stock is down 0.2% today.

• Targa Resources Partners LP (NGLS): NGLS stock is down 0.2% today.
