More broadly, the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 0.3%, the Nasdaq was unchanged and the S&P 500 was down 0.3%.
Some of the biggest gainers among basic materials stocks include:
- Kronos Worldwide Inc (KRO): KRO stock is up 3.5% today.
- Clearwater Paper Corp (CLW): CLW stock is up 0.8%, marking the third consecutive day the stock has increased.
- National Steel Corp (SID): SID stock is up 0.6% today.
- Georgia Gulf Corp (AXLL): AXLL stock is up 0.4% today.
- Yamana Gold (AUY): AUY stock is up 0.3% today.
- Mrc Global Inc (MRC): MRC stock is up 0.3% today.
- Murphy USA Inc. Common Stock Wh (MUSA): MUSA stock is up 0.2% today.
- Terra Nitrogen Company L.P. (TNH): TNH stock is up 0.1% today.
Some of the biggest losers among basic materials stocks include:
- Century Aluminum Company (CENX): CENX stock is down 5.7% today and down 26.3% in the last month.
- Allegheny Technologies Inc (ATI): ATI stock is down 5.4% today.
- Methanex Corp (MEOH): MEOH stock is down 4.5% today.
- Freeport-Mcmoran Inc. (FCX): FCX stock is down 4.3% today.
- Teck Resources Ltd (TCK): TCK stock is down 4.0% today.
- Anglogold Ashanti Ltd (AU): AU stock is down 4.1% today and down 21.9% in the last month.
- Green Plains Renewable Energy (GPRE): GPRE stock is down 4.1% today.
- Vale S.A. (VALE): VALE stock is down 3.8% today.
- Bhp Billiton Plc (BBL): BBL stock is down 3.3%, marking the third consecutive day the stock has decreased.
- Bhp Billiton Limited (BHP): BHP stock is down 2.9% today.
