Basic materials stocks declined broadly on Wall Street on Wednesday morning, with the sector seeing an overall decline of 0.8%.

More broadly, the Dow Jones Industrial Average declined 0.7%, the Nasdaq was down 0.7% and the S&P 500 fell 0.7%.

Some of the biggest gainers among basic materials stocks include:

• Sinopec Shangai Petrochemical Company Ltd (SHI): SHI stock is up 2.8% today.

• Gerdau S.A. (GGB): GGB stock is up 2.0% today.

• Fibria Celulose S.A. (FBR): FBR stock is up 1.2% today.

• National Steel Corp (SID): SID stock is up 1.2% today.

• Olin Corp (OLN): OLN stock is up 0.7% today.

Some of the biggest losers among basic materials stocks include:

• Century Aluminum Company (CENX): CENX stock is down 14.6% today and down 25.7% in the last month.

• Alcoa Inc (AA): AA stock is down 5.9% today.

• Rio Tinto Plc (RIO): RIO stock is down 4.6% today.

• Vale S.A. (VALE): VALE stock is down 4.1% today.

• Copene-Petroquimica Do Nordeste (BAK): BAK stock is down 3.8% today.

• Teck Resources Ltd (TCK): TCK stock is down 3.1% today.

• Randgold Resources Limited (GOLD): GOLD stock is down 3.1% today.

• Kapstone Paper and Packaging Corp (KS): KS stock is down 2.7% today.

• New Gold Inc (NGD): NGD stock is down 2.4%, marking the third consecutive day the stock has decreased.

• Mrc Global Inc (MRC): MRC stock is down 2.3% today.
