Hyundai Plans to Have Self-Driving Cars by 2030

Hyundai announced plans to incorporate more self-driving car features into its vehicles on Tuesday.

hyundai-self-driving-carAccording to Hyundai, it will start adding small self-driving car features in the later half of 2015. When 2020 rolls around, the company hopes to have “highly automated driving” ready in its cars. It expects to have cars that can completely drive themselves ready for sale in 2030, reports ZDNet.

The new self-driving car features that Hyundai plans to have ready later this year include systems to assist drivers. This will include aid for highway driving and a system to assist drivers in heavy traffic. The company announced plans earlier this year to put $73.3 billion into the smart car industry over the next four years, ZDNet notes.

“With the European and U.S. authorities tightening their safety regulations we are aiming at taking the lead in the field,” Jung Rag, the executive vice president at Hyundai, told The Korea Herald.
