More broadly, the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 0.5%, the Nasdaq was down 0.7% and the S&P 500 declined 0.5%.

• Teck Resources Ltd (TCK): TCK stock is up 5.3% today.

• Vale S.A. (VALE): VALE stock is up 4.9% today.

• Arcelormittal (MT): MT stock is up 4.7% today.

• Copene-Petroquimica Do Nordeste (BAK): BAK stock is up 3.7% today.

• United States Steel Corp (X): X stock is up 3.9% today.

• Gold Fields Ltd (GFI): GFI stock is up 3.9% today.

• Freeport-Mcmoran Inc. (FCX): FCX stock is up 3.5% today.

• Gerdau S.A. (GGB): GGB stock is up 3.0% today.

• Rio Tinto Plc (RIO): RIO stock is up 2.5% today.

Some of the biggest losers among basic materials stocks include:

• Sinopec Shangai Petrochemical Company Ltd (SHI): SHI stock is down 3.0% today.

• Aluminum Corporation of China Ltd (ACH): ACH stock is down 2.4% today.

• Berry Plastics Group Inc (BERY): BERY stock is down 1.7% today.

• Glatfelter (GLT): GLT stock is down 1.8% today.

• Green Plains Renewable Energy (GPRE): GPRE stock is down 1.2% today.

• Sealed Air Corp (SEE): SEE stock is down 1.3% today.

• Ferro Corp (FOE): FOE stock is down 1.3% today.

• Kapstone Paper and Packaging Corp (KS): KS stock is down 1.4% today.

• Quaker Chemical Corp (KWR): KWR stock is down 1.2% today.
