Basic materials stocks fell broadly on Wall Street so far on Thursday, with the sector seeing an overall decline of 0.6%.
More broadly, the Dow Jones Industrial Average was down 0.1%, the Nasdaq was unchanged and the S&P 500 declined 0.1%.
Some of the biggest gainers among basic materials stocks include:
- National Steel Corp (SID): SID stock is up 3.4% today.
- Aluminum Corporation of China Ltd (ACH): ACH stock is up 3.2% today.
- Fibria Celulose S.A. (FBR): FBR stock is up 2.7% today.
- Copene-Petroquimica Do Nordeste (BAK): BAK stock is up 2.3%, marking the third consecutive day the stock has increased.
- Vedanta Limited (VEDL): VEDL stock is up 2.3% today.
- Anglogold Ashanti Ltd (AU): AU stock is up 2.1% today.
- Nucor Corp (NUE): NUE stock is up 2.3% today.
- United States Steel Corp (X): X stock is up 1.9% today.
- Allegheny Technologies Inc (ATI): ATI stock is up 1.6% today.
- Hudbay Minerals Inc (HBM): HBM stock is up 1.3% today.
Some of the biggest losers among basic materials stocks include:
- DOW Chemical Company (DOW): DOW stock is down 3.0%, marking the third consecutive day the stock has decreased.
- Eastman Chemical Company (EMN): EMN stock is down 2.5%, marking the third consecutive day the stock has decreased.
- Bemis Company (BMS): BMS stock is down 1.9%, marking the third consecutive day the stock has decreased.
- Celanese Corp (CE): CE stock is down 1.2%, marking the third consecutive day the stock has decreased.
- Freeport-Mcmoran Inc. (FCX): FCX stock is down 1.3% today.
- Lyondellbasell Industries Nv (LYB): LYB stock is down 1.3%, marking the third consecutive day the stock has decreased.
- Gold Fields Ltd (GFI): GFI stock is down 1.4% today.
- Compania Mina Buenaventura S.A. (BVN): BVN stock is down 2.2% today and down 24.5% in the last month.
- Cameco Corp (CCJ): CCJ stock is down 0.9% today.
- Clearwater Paper Corp (CLW): CLW stock is down 0.9% today.
