Facebook’s (FB) Oculus has announced that it has agreed to buy Pebbles Interfaces to aid in development of its virtual reality headset.
According to a blog post from Oculus, Pebbles Interfaces’ team will be merged with its hardware engineering and computer vision teams. The group has developed technology that can be used to track hand movement. It hopes this will help it with virtual reality interactions between computers and people.
Pebbles Interfaces also announced the acquisition via its own blog. It said that joining the Facebook-owned virtual reality team will help “advance our vision building immersive experiences and revolutionizing digital human interaction.”
According to Business Insider, Facebook paid $60 million to acquire Pebbles Interfaces for its virtual reality purposes.
