A new Volkswagen recall includes 420,000 vehicles that have issues with their airbags.
The Volkswagen recall was announced voluntarily by the car manufacturer and includes vehicles sold in the United States. The reason for the recall is that hair and other long fibers can get caught in the steering wheel clock spring. This could cause the guide loops to go out of place and tear a flat cable, which would keep the airbag from deploying during a wreck.
Here is a list of the vehicle models that are affected by the Volkswagen recall.
- Certain Volkswagen CC with model years from 2010 to 2014.
- Certain Volkswagen Eos model years from 2010 to 2013.
- Certain Volkswagen Golf/GTI with model years from 2011 to 2014.
- Certain Volkswagen Jetta with model years from 2010 to 2013.
- Certain Volkswagen Jetta SportWagen with model years from 2011 to 2013.
- Certain Volkswagen Passat with model years from 2010 to 2014.
- Certain Volkswagen Tiguan with model years from 2010 to 2014.
If customers own one of the vehicles listed in the Volkswagen recall and see their airbag monitoring indicator light turn on, they should contact an authorized dealer to have the problem fixed.
