Microsoft has confirmed that it will launch a Surface Pro recall for the power cables that come with the tablets. The problem with the cables is that they can sometimes overheat due to “being wound too tightly, twisted or pinched over an extended period of time,” reports ZDNet.

The Microsoft Surface Pro recall for power cables will affect all Surface Pro, Pro 2 and Pro 3 models that were sold before July 2015. The recall will let owners of affected devices exchange their cables for new ones. More information will be made available on January 22, which is this Friday, ZDNet notes.

Microsoft released its Surface pro 4 in October of last year. However, it’s believed that power cables sold with this device won’t be included in the recall, reports PC World.
