Mastercard Inc (NYSE:MA) has redesigned its logo after 20 years without an update.
The new MasterCard logo is now simply two circles overlapping each other. This is only a slight update over its previous logo, which had the two circles interlocking. It also keeps the same red and orange colors for the circles, but removes the company’s name.
The updated MasterCard logo was designed by Pentagram. MasterCard CMO Raja Rajamannar told AdWeek that the company redesigned its logo to give it a more modern look. He also noted that the simpler design makes it easier to see on mobile devices.
The company said that customers will start seeing the new MasterCard logo show up on debit and credit cards after Sept. 30, 2016.
