Powerball Jackpot Rises to $478 Million for Sat. July 30 Drawing

The Powerball jackpot has increased to $478 million for the upcoming drawing on Saturday, July 30.

Powerball JackpotIf someone is lucky enough to win the Powerball jackpot on Saturday, they’ll be able to take home $330.6 million with the cash option. The last drawing was on Wednesday and no jackpot winners were announced.

While no one claimed the Powerball jackpot on Wednesday, that doesn’t mean there still weren’t winners. $2 million was handed out for Match 5 Winners Power Play in Florida. Match 5 Winners located in Ohio, Pennsylvania and Virginia claimed $1 million.

There were a total of 1,929,319 winners of the Powerball on Wednesday and $17,798,750 of non-jackpot money was handed out in prizes. The winning numbers for Wednesday’s Powerball jackpot drawing were 10, 47, 50, 65, 68 and a Powerball number of 24.

Tickets for the Powerball lottery cost $2 each and are available until 59 minutes minutes before the drawing takes place. Drawings occur on Wednesday and Saturday nights at 10:59 p.m. Eastern Time.

The drawing process for the Powerball jackpot has a person choosing five balls out of a rolling cage filled with a total of 69 balls. After this, the red Powerball is drawn from a similar cage that only contains 26 balls.

Powerball jackpot winners that choose the annuity option over the cash option will be given 30 payments over a time span of 29 years. The annual payments are increased by 5% each year to keep up with the cost of living.

The Powerball lottery is available for those living in 44 of states in the US, Washington D.C., Puerto Rico, and the US Virgin Islands.

Saturday’s Powerball jackpot is the fifth largest in the history of the lottery.
