Cisco Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ:CSCO) and cloud computing company salesforce.com, inc. (NYSE:CRM) are teaming up on Internet of Things (IoT) efforts.
Cisco Jasper and the Salesforce IoT Cloud will be integrated together to help business owners better monitor their IoT equipment and services. It will also provide suggestions on managing the services with data from each part of the IoT devices.
Cisco and Salesforce’s agreement could allow a fleet of trucks with IoT devices monitored by Jasper to easily send information to the Salesforce IoT Cloud. This data could be used to update customers with more information or discover issues with trucks and have them repaired in a timely manner.
The two companies also note that the collaboration will allow for quicker customer service. Letting workers have quick access to customer data can result in more efficiency and could result in productivity at call centers increasing.
Cisco Spark and WebEx will also be integrated into Sales Cloud and Service Cloud with the help of the Salesforce Lightning Framework. This will let customers communicate in real-time via chat, video and voice. It won’t require the customer to download any special plugins.
Cisco and Salesforce are expecting these integrations to become available during the second half of 2017. Customers will be required to have a Salesforce license and a Cisco Spark, or WebEx, license to take advantage of the integrations.

CSCO stock was up 1% and CRM stock was up slightly as of Thursday afternoon.
