Equifax Inc. (NYSE:EFX) is now on DoNotPay’s radar. This means there’s likely going to be a lot of Equifax lawsuits in the near future.
DoNotPay is a chatbot that allows users to automatically take care of certain legal issues without having to hire a lawyer. This includes disputing parking tickets, filing for maternity leave and several other actions.
The most recent update to the DoNotPay chatbot now allows it to automatically sue Equifax. Equifax lawsuits in the United States could reach as high as $25,000. The amount in the lawsuit depends on which state a person lives in.
“It is particularly exciting that a lawyer is never needed in the process. The class action lawsuit against the company will only give successful consumers around $500 (with the rest going to greedy lawyers in commissions),” Joshua Browder, creator of DoNotPay, told VentureBeat. “I hope that my product will replace those lawyers, and, with enough success, bankrupt Equifax.”
You can follow this link to the website for the DoNotPay chatbot. The service is currently only available for users living in New York and California with lawsuits of $15,000. However, it notes that users should check back in 12 hours for lists of other states that can file Equifax lawsuits.
The Equifax data breach resulted in 143 million people have their private information stolen from them. This includes names, addresses and Social Security Numbers. Customers that have been affected by the data breach may want to consider freezing their credit or setting up fraud alert.
