A debate sparked

at a parenting forum writing in which user Fluffysparks wrote that her 15-year-old DD (darling daughter) has planned a whole routine with her friends. However, the mother expressed concern that her daughter may be too old to still go around houses collecting candy.

The mother said that her daughter plans on trick-or-treating by only knocking on houses with pumpkins on the front. “I’ve said to her I think she’s too old but she would be missing out on a chance to socialise with her (very sensible) friends. I suppose this is sort of a wwyd?”

The comments soon started to pour in which plenty of parents saying that 15 is indeed too old to continue the tradition. “15 way too old IMO (in my opinion),” said one user. “Ours stopped well before going to High School.”

Others noted that the Halloween tradition is mostly intended for the young children, adding that teenagers should start considering having a Halloween party instead if they’re looking to socialize with their friends.

Many others expressed concerns regarding teenagers’ motivation to trick or treat, noting that once they hit their teen years, kids might be more interested in asking for money rather than candy from strangers.
