There seems to be little love between Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) and Google (NASDAQ:GOOG). The latest move? Well, Apple has
nixed YouTube from the built-in apps on the iOS 6 platform. This will impact both the iPad and iPhone.
Apple provided no reason for the move. But it’s probably another way to push back on Google’s Android, which continues to get lots of traction.
And yes, Google is in the process of putting together a new app for Apple’s iTunes Store, which shouldn’t be difficult. Interestingly enough, this may be better for Google anyway. After all, the built-in app had no advertisements and was highly restricted in terms of Apple’s requirements. Besides, YouTube is the dominant brand in online video and should quickly become one of the top mobile apps offered for iOS.
