Consumers will soon have the option to buy Girl Scout cookies online.

The ability to buy Girl Scout cookies online is one that many have been waiting for. However, the organization took so long to introduce the option due to safety concerns and making sure the system worked properly, reports Fortune.

Girl Scouts will have to obtain permission from their legal guardians and scout council before they are able to take part in the digital sales. Once permission has been obtained, they then have the ability to open a mobile app store or website that allows customers to buy Girl Scout cookies online, Fortune notes.

“For almost a century, the Girl Scout Cookie Program has been teaching girls to be leaders in the world of business and finance, and we intend to ensure that legacy continues in the digital age,” Anna Maria Chávez, CEO of Girl Scouts of the USA,

said in a statement. “If you buy Girl Scout Cookies online this year, you could be helping to prepare the next female leader of a global tech giant who changes our world forever.”
