Li-Fi is a new term being thrown around, but do you know what it is?
Here are a few things to know about Li-Fi, as collected from Wikipedia.
- Li-Fi is a way to transfer data via light.
- The light could be dimmed to the point that it won’t be seen by human eyes.
- It is able to reach data transfer speeds of 224 gigabits per second, which is 100 times faster than Wi-Fi.
- The technology has a short range due to the light needing to connect with other devices.
- The light can be bounced off of walls and has still shown it can achieve speeds of 70 megabits per second.
- It has almost no capacity limits, while Wi-Fi has almost reached its limit.
- The new data transfer system is also excepted to be 10 times cheaper than Wi-Fi.

(AAPL) is believed to have an interest in Li-Fi. A recent look at code found in iOS 9 discovered hints that the tech company may want to use the data transfer system in its smartphones.
