The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has set new drone rules to ensure the safety of all.
The new rules that govern commercial drones were created as the gadgets continue to grow in popularity. Here are five things to know about drones:
- All drones must be registered and renewed every two years.
- Owners must be at least 16 years old to register their drone.
- The FAA says these devices can weigh up to 55 pounds.
- They can only fly in daylight hours, and only up to 400 feet in the air.
- The FAA has already granted commercial flight permission to at least 5,300 drones.
Between 700,000 and 1 million drones were sold in the most recent holiday season.
