Key Stocks to Watch This Week

There are many key issues to watch for this week for investors and traders alike.  Earnings season is going to get a soft start and we also have the key unemployment data due on Friday.

Geron  (NASDAQ: GERN) is giving a keynote address at the 2010 World Stem Cell Summit on Tuesday, and odds are that the company won’t just talk up stem cells as a sector after the recent ban on stem cell funding was lifted.

Green Mountain Coffee Roasters (NASDAQ: GMCR) is going to be key to watch this week as shareholders continue to digest the accounting news and SEC inquiry after shares hit a 52-week last week and then went into the dirt. Shares have broken under $30 now and a continued bear raid seems likely.

Monsanto (NYSE: MON) is a must-watch earnings report this week on Wednesday as the stock seemingly gets pounded on almost every day.  If there is no catalyst or turnaround in the works, a 52-week low could be found here this week.  Thomson Reuters has estimates of -$0.06 EPS and $1.82 billion in revenue.

Netflix (NASDAQ: NFLX) was again listed as the No. 1 stock in the IBD 100 over the weekend, despite that it fell about $20 from last week’s highs.  The move is higher so far despite some analyst concerns.

Barron’s is giving a boost to both United Technologies  (NYSE: UTX) and JPMorgan Chase (NYSE: JPM) as solid stocks with solid futures ahead.  In video games, Take-Two Interactive Software  (NASDAQ: TTWO) was given a very positive review in Barron’s as a turnaround.
