The Waiting Begins: An investment firm predicts that Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) will release the iPhone 5S in June or July of next year, and a TV set of its own next Fall, AppleInsider notes. Jeffries also cut its target for Apple shares from $900, to $800. Peter Misek, an Jeffries analyst, says the iPhone 5S will feature a new “super HD camera/screen,” NFC technology and longer battery life. The updated iPhone could also possess up to 128GB of memory and come in six new colors. iPhones currently come in either black or white.  Misek also predicts a lighter iPad to debut in June with a sharper screen that uses Sharp’s IGZO technology. According to Misek, Apple has produced several prototypes of a iTV set, which feature a new user interface and voice control. Both the iPad and iPhone are facing increasing competition from smartphones and tablets running Google‘s (NASDAQ:GOOG) Android and Microsoft‘s (NASDAQ:MSFT) Windows operating systems.

No TV Ever: While many analysts expect Apple to launch its own branded TV set next year, one former Apple executive is throwing cold water on the speculation, BGR notes. Jean-Louis Gassee says that he doesn’t think Apple is currently developing a TV set, or wants to do so. Apple CEO Tim Cook recently stoked the speculation with comments during an interview with NBC’s Brian Williams in which he said current TVs were outdated and that television was a focus for Apple. Gassee says that Cook’s remarks have been overblown and that the CEO was simply indicating that Apple will continue to invest in television technology, but won’t launch any TV product until “the obstacles are finally surmounted.”

Augmented Options: Apple’s media streaming device, Apple TV, will soon get Bluetooth connectivity, 9to5Mac notes. The company has released a beta version of new Apple TV software that allows the pairing of wireless keyboards to second and third generation Apple TV models. Wireless keyboards would greatly enhance search capabilities. The software permits full control of the device through the wireless keyboard. Previously, users who wanted to pair a wireless keyboard to their Apple TVs had to use a separate app to do so. However, the new Bluetooth connectivity only supports wireless keyboards, not Macs, speakers or a mouse.
