Dunkin’ Donuts Tests Glazed Donut Egg Sandwich

The new Glazed Donut Breakfast Sandwich — which features an egg and bacon or sausage between to sliced halves of a glazed doughnut — is being tested at a limited number of stores in eastern Massachusetts, Boston Magazine is reporting.

The breakfast sandwich is described as being lighter than expected, coming in at only 360 calories. It’s also heavy on the sweet side of what’s billed as a sweet and savory meal. The sandwich is missing the expected cheese — which most breakfast sandwiches seem to have — and that cuts down on both the calories and the savory flavor and lets the sugar glaze dominate.

The chain is not saying exactly which restaurants are selling the new sandwich. A spokesman did say that the chain had no plans at this time to market the doughnut sandwich nationally.
