Employee Outs Golden Corral’s Gross Food Practices

Steakhouse stocksA Golden Corral in Port Orange, Fla., is under inspection by local health authorities after a video was posted to Youtube and Reddit highlighting unsafe health practices.

The video shows Golden Corral employee Brandon Huber, enter the dumpster area by his restaurant where trays of raw meat have been placed. The raw meat has flies swarming around it and is left out in the sun. Huber claims in the video that this was done during an inspection, but never explains why it was done.

The Golden Corral franchise owners, Metro Corral, released a statement to the Consumerist regarding the video.

“None of these items were served to a single customer,” reads the statement from Metro Corral to the Consumerist. “All were destroyed within the hour at the direction of management… The manager involved in the improper storage was terminated for failing to follow approved food handling procedures.”

Metro Corral also claims that the father of Brandon Huber offered to sell the video to Golden Corral for $5,000, but the offer was rejected, reports the Consumerist.

A similar investigation by health authorities took place last December, when a Golden Corral in Casper, Wyo., voluntarily shut down after 167 people who ate at the restaurant became ill.
