PM Fires Up an Increase: 8 Companies Increasing Dividends

Dividend payers amped it up a bit after a Labor Day lull last week, with tobacco purveyor Philip Morris (PM) making the biggest splash of the week for income investors. A total of 8 companies made it onto our Companies Increasing Dividends list for the week. (Note: All yields are as of September 13)

Companies Increasing DividendsLife-sciences real estate real estate investment trust company Alexandria Real Estate (ARE) raised its quarterly dividend 4.6% to 68 cents per share, payable on October 15 to shareholders of record as of September 30.
ARE Dividend Yield: 4.32%

Wireless and wireline telecommunications company Atlantic Tele-Network (ATNI) increased its dividend 8% to 27 cents per share, payable on October 7 to shareholders of record as of September 30. This is the 15th consecutive annual increase to the dividend.
ATNI Dividend Yield: 2.20%

Financial services company Franklin Resources (BEN) raised its quarterly dividend 3% to 10 cents per share, payable on October 11 to shareholders of record as of September 30.
BEN Dividend Yield: 0.8%

Family-style restaurant group Frisch’s (FRS) raised its dividend 12.5% to 18 cents per share, payable on October 10 to shareholders of record as of September 26. This will be the 211th consecutive quarterly dividend paid by FRS.
FRS Dividend Yield: 3.55%

Energy services holding company New Jersey Resources (NJR) raised its quarterly dividend 5% to 42 cents per share, payable on October 1 to shareholders of record as of September 23.
NJR Dividend Yield: 3.93%

Cigarette manufacturer Philip Morris (PM) raised its quarterly dividend 10.6% to 94 cents per share, payable on October 11 to shareholders of record as of September 26, with an ex-dividend date of September 24.
PM Dividend Yield: 4.29%

Commercial real estate loan packager and real estate investment trust RAIT Financial (RAS) raised its quarterly dividend 15% to 15 cents per share, payable on October 31 to shareholders of record as of October 3, with an ex-dividend date of October 1.
RAS Dividend Yield: 8.46%

Freestanding retail real estate investment trust Realty Income (O) raised its monthly dividend 0.2% to 18.19 cents per share, payable on October 15 to shareholders of record as of October 1.
O Dividend Yield: 5.54%
