Biggest Stock Losers
Avanir Pharmaceuticals (AVNR, -20%): Shares AVNR stock got pounded on Wednesday, topping our list of biggest stock losers by opening to 20% or so gains. The reason AVNR stock investors headed for the door? Avanir Pharmaceuticals reported a fourth-quarter loss both wider than last year’s and wider than expected.
Opko Health (OPK, -13%): OPK stock is the next unlucky name on our list of biggest stock losers. The bright side: Opko Health is just cooling off after a sizzling year. Even after the sell-off, OPK stock has doubled since Jan. 1.
Icahn Enterprises (IEP, -14%): IEP stock fell double-digits on Tuesday when Carl Icahn and his company announced they would be selling 2 million units after the bell to raise more cash. The result was a 14% decline in Icahn Enterprises stock on Wednesday. And the worse news? Barron’s says IEP stock looks overvalued even after its recent sell-off.
Sequenom (SQNM, -9%): SQNM is another of our biggest stock losers. Sequenom is a molecular diagnostic testing and genetics analysis company, for those who were wondering. SQNM has been one of the biggest stock losers for the year, too, with a year-to-date slide of over 50%.
Renesola (SOL, -8%): Solar stock have been cooling off lately, and Renesola is the latest casualty. SOL stock fell 8%, continuing its recent slide. SOL stock has been one of the biggest stock losers of the past week, sliding a total of 37% in the last five trading days.
JinkoSolar (JKS, -7%): That brings us to JKS stock, which is down 7% this morning. JKS stock is still up over 300% so far this year, but is off 7% in this morning’s trading.
Geron Corp. (GERN, -5%): GERN stock slides onto our list of biggest stock losers yet again, falling around 5% this morning.
