National Public Radio (NPR) and Apple (AAPL) are joining forces to create the first news station on Apple’s audio streaming service.

NPRiTunes Radio has been around since last fall but it existed exclusively to stream music until now. Apple is bringing a free NPR stream 24 hours a day that includes a mixture of live shows and pre-recorded programming.

The stream will help both companies as NPR fans will probably download iTunes Radio if they haven’t already. The radio station already attracts over 30 million visitors a month, but this deal will help it get even more exposure thanks to Apple’s streaming service.

AAPL stock is up about 1.2% Monday.
