Basic materials stocks finished down broadly on Wall Street today, with the sector seeing an overall decline of 1.4%.

More broadly, the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 1.1%, the Nasdaq was down 0.9% and the S&P 500 fell 1.1%.

Some of the biggest gainers among basic materials stocks include:

• Raven Industries (RAVN): RAVN stock is up 1.1% today.

• Grupo Simec S.A. De C.V. (SIM): SIM stock is up 1.0% today.

• Rio Tinto Plc (RIO): RIO stock is up 0.7% today.

• Southern Peru Copper Corp (SCCO): SCCO stock is up 0.5%, marking the eighth consecutive day the stock has increased.

• Universal Forest Products (UFPI): UFPI stock is up 0.4% today.

• Bhp Billiton Limited (BHP): BHP stock is up 0.4% today.

• Wd-40 Company (WDFC): WDFC stock is up 0.2% today.

• Gerdau S.A. (GGB): GGB stock is up 0.2% today.

• Aluminum Corporation of China Ltd (ACH): ACH stock is up 0.1%, marking the seventh consecutive day the stock has increased.

Some of the biggest losers among basic materials stocks include:

• Ashland Inc (ASH): ASH stock is down 3.2%, marking the fourth consecutive day the stock has decreased.

• Celanese Corp (CE): CE stock is down 3.2% today.

• Cliffs Natural Resources Inc (CLF): CLF stock is down 3.2% today.

• Chemtura Corp (CHMT): CHMT stock is down 3.1%, marking the third consecutive day the stock has decreased.

• Worthington Industries (WOR): WOR stock is down 3.0%, marking the third consecutive day the stock has decreased.

• Rexnord Corp (RXN): RXN stock is down 3.0%, marking the third consecutive day the stock has decreased.

• Cabot Corp (CBT): CBT stock is down 2.9%, marking the third consecutive day the stock has decreased.

• Valspar Corp (VAL): VAL stock is down 2.8% today.

• Novagold Resources Inc (NG): NG stock is down 2.7% today.

• Simpson Manufacturing Company (SSD): SSD stock is down 2.4%, marking the fourth consecutive day the stock has decreased.
