Basic materials stocks rose broadly on Wall Street today, with the sector seeing an overall increase of 0.2%.
More broadly, the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.2%, the Nasdaq pushed 0.4% higher and the S&P 500 was up 0.2%.
Some of the biggest gainers among basic materials stocks include:
- New Gold Inc (NGD): NGD stock is up 3.7% today.
- Fibria Celulose S.A. (FBR): FBR stock is up 2.7% today.
- FMC Corp (FMC): FMC stock is up 1.8%, marking the fifth consecutive day the stock has increased.
- Wd-40 Company (WDFC): WDFC stock is up 1.6% today.
- Eldorado Gold Corp (EGO): EGO stock is up 1.5%, marking the fourth consecutive day the stock has increased.
- Circor International (CIR): CIR stock is up 1.4% today.
- Raven Industries (RAVN): RAVN stock is up 1.3% today.
- Georgia Gulf Corp (AXLL): AXLL stock is up 1.3% today.
- Bhp Billiton Plc (BBL): BBL stock is up 1.3% today.
- Polyone Corp (POL): POL stock is up 1.3% today.
Some of the biggest losers among basic materials stocks include:
- Harmony Gold Mining Co. Ltd (HMY): HMY stock is down 1.6%, marking the fourth consecutive day the stock has decreased.
- Intrepid Potash Inc (IPI): IPI stock is down 0.9%, marking the seventh consecutive day the stock has decreased.
- Schweitzer-Mauduit International (SWM): SWM stock is down 0.8% today.
- Royal Gold (RGLD): RGLD stock is down 0.7% today.
- Mueller Water Products (MWA): MWA stock is down 0.6% today.
- Allegheny Technologies Inc (ATI): ATI stock is down 0.6% today.
- Agrium Inc (AGU): AGU stock is down 0.5%, marking the third consecutive day the stock has decreased.
- RBC Bearings Inc (ROLL): ROLL stock is down 0.5% today.
- Parker-Hannifin Corp (PH): PH stock is down 0.5% today.
- Packaging Corporation of America (PKG): PKG stock is down 0.5% today.
